DAY 1: FITNESS
Welcome to the #OolaForChristians Challenge! We are so grateful that you're joining us on this journey. You'll be receiving your daily Oola for Christians Challenges by email every day for the next 21 days. We hope this 3-week challenge helps you grow as a Christian and to find more balance in life.
We will be using scriptures and prayers along with the daily challenge to guide you and unite us as we go after our OolaLife. Some challenges will be easy, some will be hard, some will require you to set aside your pride, some may require you to find some courage, and others might just make you do something you said you'd never do. But, all of them are designed to move you closer to your God given greatness and purpose and help you develop a better relationship with Christ.
Are you ready?! We sure are. Here's the first challenge:
Day 1 – Just Breathe. No seriously, stop whatever you are doing and take a breath. Close your eyes, be still, take a deep breath in through your nose and out through your mouth. Feel the air move in and out and realize that you are alive, and life means purpose.
Remember: As long as you have breath, you have a purpose! It is our job to steward this beautiful life that we have been given.
So you thought you were done now didn’t you? Not so fast. The second part of the challenge is to move and break a sweat. Jesus walked an average of around 25 miles a day according to historians. Even though He is our model, we don’t expect you to start there. But the word of God says he wants us to enjoy good health.
“Dear friend I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well.”
3 JOHN 1:2 NIV
Begin wherever you are and start today. Whatever you decide to do - a 20 min walk, run, hike, swim, or to play with the kids in the back yard - it is important to start moving your body and get your Oola fitness headed in the right direction. As you begin to move, take this time not only get your physical body in shape but also your mind and your soul. We encourage you as you are doing physical activity to say this prayer and reflect on the real you that God has created.
Dear God, thank you for the breath in my lungs. Please guide me on this journey as I take the steps physically, mentally and spiritually to be who you have created me to be. Thank you that you designed me for greatness and a purpose. I ask for the courage not to give up on myself because you have never given up on me. Your word says where I am weak you are made strong. Please guide me and strengthen me on the steps you would have me take. Thank you today for giving me the opportunity to be more like you.
